Narayan book worm and here I am with another review of one of his most prominent books- The English teacher.  Surprisingly, this is the foremost book of his that brought tears into my eyes. It revolves around a bitter-sweet tale of an English professor and his family and feelings. In Narayan's autobiography I came to know that this bundle of pages actually included the author's own experiences with his daughter after his wife's death. As always the novelist's style of writing is vivid and lively. Though the story and the flow of the tale are thought-provoking some parts of this book could have been shortened. I felt they were prolonged a bit and that it could give birth to boredom in the reader. Well, this is altogether my perspective. The ingredients that enhance the experience while reading are wonderfully balanced and added to this work of art. Weaving humour and irony into this melancholy story is the author's skill that needs acknowledgement.<br />Build your own perception on this story after going through the colourful paragraphs of this remarkable<br />piece of work.</div>

He is taken care off, until the burglars kidnap him. I personally don't have much interest in Mythology but somehow the beautiful and vivid portrayal of the events in this book grasped my attention all the while I read it. It is written by a very famous Indian writer who is popularly known as 'Rajaji', his original name being, Chakravarti Rajagopalachari. Nothing is left untold, neither drama is missing nor romance nor betrayal, nor jealousy, nor anything . The treasures of the Mahabharata do not limit to India only, but to all parts of the world. However, this fact cannot be denied that the unmatched epic has given a perennial source of spiritual strength to the people of India and is the main reason for some of the most heroic tasks done by them.<br />These are the words given out by the writer- "The realities of life are idealized by genius and given the form that makes drama, poetry or great prose. Since literature is closely related to life, so long as the human family is divided into nations, literature cannot escape the effects of such division. But the highest literature transcends regionalism and through it, when we are properly attuned, we realize the essential oneness of the human family. The Mahabharata is of this class."<br />Books like The Mahabharata enhance human character and embed the best moral values in it. Read this translated, retold version to obtain a better life and to learn to distinguish the good from bad. Let modern yet noble ideas come to you by reading this enchanting epic.</div>

Mr. Pink Whistle Interferes

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Fond memories of this book are left behind in my mind. One fine day, when I was 11, I happened to pick this book up from the shelves of my school library and I think that that decision of mine was very fruitful. Would you like to know why? It's because ,before the event took place in my life, I had least interest in my library class and would always be busy chatting with my buddies.<br />By now you might have guessed that, at that point of time I just fell in love with this book due to it's short and sweet stories revolving around Mr Pink Whistle whom I consider a super hero even now.<br />The stories speak about Mr. Whistle, an imaginary character drawn by Enid Blyton, who intervenes into the lives of unfortunate children and changes them altogether. Rusty and the Leopard

As usual, Ruskin Bond's mesmerizing, but completely simple form of writing has excited me once again.<br /><br />As the name suggests, you might think that the story revolves around a leopard, but you are completely wrong if you think so! I believe, the first appearance of a leopard was in the last quarter of the book. This is the third book in the 'Rusty' series, and I found it more interesting than the previous versions, as Rusty, the protagonist becomes a lot matured in this book, and he meets a lot of new people to set a life of his own. I felt that 'Rusty's Life' or 'The Adventures of Rusty' as a name for this book would sound appropriate.<br /><br />At the time when Rusty spends his life on the roof, Mr and Mrs Kapoor go out on some work, and Rusty is sent off the house. Rusty meets many new people, and befriends them (some of them were thieves). He always dreams of becoming a writer and goes to England, or perhaps Australia, America, etc.<br /><br />Read this book to find out how will Rusty's fate take shape, and what will happen at the end. However, he escapes and becomes a thief.<br />Rusty remains homeless and wanders many places, including Hardiwar, where he finds Kishen and both of them return to Dehra.<br />They find an other friend, and three of them spend their nights in an abandoned church. Meanwhile, Rusty discovers an old man, who seems to be a friend of his father; and an old woman who has some of Rusty's Father's books (Including the first edition of <i>Alice In Wonderland</i> which he decides to sell)<br />Rusty then decides to go to England, and does as he wishes. The story ends when he gets seated in the train.</div>

This book by her is no different. She conveys her messages to all her readers through a very simple but vivid style of writing. There is a swift flow in all the 23 stories in this book with their arrangement/placing done in a very thoughtful manner. The lessons that are revealed from her experiences are very beautiful. For example, one of the stories in this book named "Ganga's ghat" teaches us to carry out social service within our limits and the story "Genes" educates us with the message that we must develop a good value-system as value-systems do not pass from parents to children. A good amount of curiosity generates in the readers while reading the passages. I would recommend all the blooming book worms to start off with this novel as it not only brings interest into young minds but also brings love for books in them. Due to the growing curiosity in me I finished this book in about four and a half hours, approximately fifteen minutes for each chapter. It all starts when Jimbo accidentally drops some sandwitch on his sister's boy friend's head compelling Becky(sister) to take revenge in the form of a false story regarding the impression created by Jimbo's teachers on him. Then Charlie and Jimbo decide to spy on their teachers which brings out the fact that something is wrong with two of the teachers. They speak in an unusual language and this case interests the two friends very much leading them to meet in outer space. Don't you feel that the story is very interesting and you are getting enthusiastic about reading it. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and read the book right away.</div>

A tiger for Malgudi

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">If you've gone through all my reviews you must have understood by now that I am a Narayan fan cause I feel all his books are mind boggling.<br />I didn't have a similar experience with this one as I felt it to be boring at many points. Personification is the main device used in this book to please it's readers where a tiger narrates it's life story with interventions of paragraphs told by the author himself. The main character of the book is Raja, a tiger with other important characters like Captain and 'Raja's master' whose name I do not know.<br />The story has a nice flow but it's pace is very slow according to me.The events revolve around Raja's conversion from a wild beast to a circus' baffoon and then to a beautiful soul who understands the life problems of humans and has just the body of a tiger and nothing else similar to the ferocious wild tiger. The Journey to the centre of the earth-unabridged

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">At first I felt that the pace of this awe-inspiring book was too slow and that it started to bore me, but after the actual journey to the centre of the earth started I could not judge the pace of the writing as I increased my own reading pace to a good extent due to the growing curiosity,axiety and excitement in me. Day and night I spent all my available time in reading the passages of the book.So, to conclude from this I could say that this science fiction novel was very gripping due to the author's vast imagination which almost touched the impossible but still compelled the reader to believe it. That is what I think I love the most about this novel.<br />Coming to the story, Professor Otto Lindenbrock, the most unpredictable person ever with a very impatient nature candied with a lot of will power and an enormous store of knowledge, with his nephew, Axel come across a book which has no value to the normal public but is of great value to the professor. Why? (Because he was the most unusual man and...) The book had a note from it's ex-owner (I actually don't know how many ex's), Arne Saknussemm which had the key to the passage from where one could plunge into the earth to have a good look at the bowels of the earth. Soon they start their expedition inspite of a lot of resistance from Axel. Incidents in the life of a Slave Girl

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">At first I would like to declare that I don't like serious reading. I never read anything serious (except my school text books) before I read this book. I think it's worth reading this novel to create an experience as this book by Harriet Jacobs, who herself suffered through the bane of slavery unveils some of the most horrible experiences which can be ever faced by humans. Though this book is not suitable for children and people who hate serious reading and read only for rejuvenation, it imparts into the teenagers some basic morals of life. This autobiographical account familiarises you with an individual's battle for self dignity, self preservation and freedom. It also shows a mother's attachment with her children and also the part of this planet which still withholds good and helpful nature among few of it's inhabitants.The determination  and courage of this woman is surely to be praised.<br />In this novel there are many fearless portrayals of the abuses and hypocrisy of the master-slave relationship. The fact that these horrors faced by the author , is written in a very decent manner and is not written to gain sympathy and fame impressed me very much. She also took care that no character of her book gives any clue to who that person was in real life. Though the story is true but the characters are all given fictious names to hide their identity . The aim of the writer behind writing this novel was to enlighten the women of the free world to give in help to raise these downtrodden parts of the society and to bring them into the bright light of pure freedom (the reason behind me using the word "pure" will be known to all of you only when the book is read by you) and happiness.<br />This book will not make you feel happy but will sadden you. My Boyhood Days

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Rabindranath Tagore is one of the greatest authors ever in the Indian as well as world history. This book gives us a chance to peep into this famous personality's childhood. Originally written in Bengali under the title of "Chelebela", the 88 paged translated book gives the reader a feeling very close to the one that comes while reading the original. The simple language is illustrative and very descriptive. One disadvantage of the book is that, it is neccessary for the reader to be familiar with little bit of Bengali as the essays contain many Bengali words. This issue too has been solved to some extent by the editor with meanings of certain words and phrases below the page.<br />Comming to the story, it just goes on with a certain continuity where  the author describes his boyhood days and the precious relationships he shared with his surroundings, mother, brothers, "Bouthakruns"(sister-in law), servants and tutors in a lovely fashion. He hated school and routine study. Rabindranath , as a boy kept to himself. His description of - he in his play with his toy, the palanquin is a part I enjoyed thoroughly. The Secret Garden - Unabridged

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">At first when I had my first glance at the cover, I felt that it must be a really boring and gloomy sort of book but now when I have finished reading the 276 paged book, I recollect the famous saying- "Don't judge a book by it's cover".<br />I am the happiest when I am among beautiful and colourful flowers and standing on a carpet of velvety green grass and all around me is nature and nothing else, accompanying the fragrances of wet mud, flowers and leaves which fill your lungs to the fullest and the chirps of different birds which please your ears. This book gave me the same feeling. I adore the story very much but at the same time think that it maybe a little boring and difficult to read for them who are uncomfortable with any English other that pure British or American English cause this book contains a lot of English in the Yorkshire accent. This did not affect me as I was getting to learn something new as well as hugely interested in the altogether awesome story. The novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett also conveys a message to young children that is to nurture positivity in their minds due to it's uncountable benefits, the foremost being- a healthy body.<br />I sometimes put myself in the place of Mary ( the main character) while I was reading the book, and saw things around with Mary's eyes. It was undescribably wonderful. As I realised myself to chit chat with Colin( who was the most spoiled lad ever), it brought a smile onto my face. Tales from Shakespeare -Charles and Mary Lamb

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Shakespeare's is considered to be one of the greatest contributions to English literature. I, once tried to read the unabridged, not retold version of Shakespeare but got fed up due to the difficulty of that old and boring language in addition to the prelonged texts. When I procured this retold version I was relieved and immediately started reading it in a haste so that I could taste Shakespeare's as quickly as possible. Slowly I realized that reading this book in a haste meant reading just for the sake of claiming that you have read . So I reduced my pace and gently went through the passages. The variety of stories impressed me but the bad part is that even after trying a lot I couldn't find any humour in the great 14 comedies out of the 20 tales inspite of the excellent usage of wit in the stories. I thought the tragedies would make me cry but surprisingly enough they didn't . I merrily accepted the facts without letting the tales touch my heart. One thing to be accepted that each and every story taught the reader morals and values. The stangeness of fate and destiny were very well expressed in the stories.<br />I would recommend this particular famous retold version to growing children so that they experiece a different diversity of tales. The real Shakespeare as I said earlier is too complicated. The Famous Five (Part 4)

I read this book last year, when I was in 8th class. This is the 4th book in the series : Five Go To Smuggler's Top. This is a mysterious and adventurous story. The story starts off with  four children (Julian, Dick, Georgina & Anne) and a dog named Timmy. Julian, Dick, George, Anne and Timmy the Dog meet once again to begin, what they believe to be, a 'normal' summer holiday. Meeting at George's home, the first night doesn't quite go to plan; a terrible storm leaves the household in turmoil as a tree falls on the property. Worried that they may not be able to spend their holiday together, George's father, the formidable Uncle Quentin, solves the problem, by sending them to Smuggler's Top, home to a professional colleague of Quentin's, Mr. Lenoir. Arriving at Smuggler's top, not at all as it seems and they soon find themselves caught in a twisted plot.<br /><br />  When they reach smuggler's top,they find many suspicious things happening around them. Then they start their adventure solving each mysterious thing happening around them. It is simply sweet, and innocently fun - isn't that what childhood is meant to be? For those of you that are familiar with the Famous Five novels, they pretty much follow a similar plot; the children go on their holidays, find something is wrong, investigate and explore, till the plot reaches it's climax, usually with the children facing a bad predicament and finally it being resolved and everyone is back together at the end.<br /><br />  When I read this book, I found it very exciting, gripping and definitely my favourite out of the Famous Five Series, so much that I re-visited the book very often. The Visionary Voyage( the magic mirror mystery)

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Just as I was choosing books from our school library, this thin book caught my sight. It had a not jet black, but a greyish-black, dusty cover with a really ghostly picture. I picked it up and started reading it with a heart full of exciting expectations. The authors, Luther Tsai and Nury Vittachi started the story referring to two siblings, Miranda and Marco who felt that they were quite neglected by their parents who were always trapped in a busy business schedule and left their children with their affectionate grandpa. Grandpa was missing!!!!! He had vanished leaving them all alone when a sphinxlike package appeared at their door. The children not knowing what to do with it, ended up unpacking the bundle finding an enchanting and magical mirror in it!!!! What was it? A vampire or spirit unleashing mirror or was it just a simple mirror that the ladies used to wear make-up? It looked really antique. As these inquisitive children were examining the superannuated looking object, night fell and the shimmering moonlight from some open window fell onto the mirror and the room filled with the misty moonlight. Every corner seemed to illuminate by it's own and then something happened! The innocents woke up feeling that they had a nightmare but no, they found themselves in a confined room with plenty of supper beautifully arranged on a monstrous table. What is all this going on?<br />They were also swaying from side to side. Oh my goodness! They were dwelling in one of the cabins of a ship! Though this gripping book with collections of various stories, travelogues and sketches is not the work of the renowned authors mentioned above, still, according to me the work carries a slight influence of these people's writings. R.K Laxman is the youngest sibling of famous writer, R.K Narayan and possesses the same versatile and lively style of writing just like his elder brother. The writings accompany with humongous amount of entertainment and the lively hand drawn cartoons in the book also contribute towards the enormous joy of going past the breath taking passages.<br />The stories are felt very awe-inspiring by me as they not only convey simplicity but also the talent of the writer to give a sudden blow at the end. Oliver Twist-Abridged

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">This is a very touching book by Charles Dickens which can tackle one's emotions and also make few, drip tears. A movie was taken from the heart rendering book which  was also very well directed. Oliver, the main character in the book is portrayed as a very innocent boy who has the slightest knowledge of his bad company and surroundings.<br />Oliver is an orphan boy who is  badly treated in his orphanage  from where he is sent to ,once again, a cruel and wicked family where he has to work tirelessly all day long to earn a day's meal. Unable to bear such brutality, the young orphan escapes to the city where he is discovered by a group of notorious thieves. Though these burglars treat Oliver with lots of affection, they teach him to rob rich gentlemen in the process of which he is caught and beaten up.<br />The wealthy complainant seems to pity on the boy and takes him home. But it seems that Oliver is glued to bad fate as the robbers find him and try to make him blurt out if he had betrayed them and spoken out all about their gang to the police.  After that the story ends with a lovely ending which I won't write. I would rather like to recommend the unabridged version as it gives you a taste of old and good literature. Read the book to enjoy a wonderful storyline. Guide

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">This book's review has already been posted once.<br />Guide is a book that turns it's reader into a driftwood which glides across the waves of a variety of feelings such as happiness, curiosity, a little sadness and also affection. The chapters of the book kept me busy wondering the abrupt changes of passages referring to the past and present of a guide and an enforced saint named Raju.<br />The miraculous book deals with Raju who had lost his trustworthiness once and doesn't want to lose it again. In his past Raju had grown an enormous amount of affection towards Rosy, a married classical dancer whom he had brought into the limelight. To save himself from losing his love, he had committed a crime that was not forgivable by Rosy.<br />Later, when his past meets the present, he is bound by the circumstances (read to find out what these circumstances were) around him and has to implement a 12 day fast to do good to his followers. My Days

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">My Days is a book whose 17 chapters gave me ubiquitous amount of joy, pleasure and entertainment . This was the first autobiography that I read, and it was very lively. It revealed to me the beauty of enjoying life in whatever state it was just as the author, R K Narayan did. The arrangement of the chapters are in such a way that it gives every detail of the novelist's life with a refreshing and poetic touch in it.<br />I liked the the first few chapters really very much which conveyed the joy of being a child in an adorable fashion. With his monkey and peacock company young Narayan enjoyed the Madras sun showing off its enormous power in the form of unbearable heat in the compound of his strict and modern thinking grandma's house. After a few leisure years of pondering here and there Narayan gets admitted to a school on his way to which he keeps admiring the cityscape of the modern city of Madras and gets lost into his own world.<br />He then goes and lives with his parents and siblings in Mysore with the pleasant hilly climate giving in way to a new life. Here Narayan blooms into a teenager hating formal studies as well as exams and craving to read various writings of Dickens, Marie Corellei, Tolstoy, Thomas Hardy and many others. With lots of efforts he somehow manages to get the degree of B.A. giving it a second try.<br />Then comes in the urge to write. He starts with short stories and sends them to London for publication in English magazines and Gazettes. He has many obstacles in his path which includes finding publishers. Then comes Graham Greene to his rescue who vanishes Narayan's problem helping him start his career.<br />Read the book yourself. Using this special God given gift , he does nothing except good to good people as well as animals. Mr Whistle is an elf who has a jet black cat, loves children and spreads happiness. So all my dear readers of this blog aged below 11 tighten your seat belts and here is a wonderful book for you all to ride through and I'm sure that like me even you'll start adoring Mr Whistle after your jolly ride is finished. <div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">It is really a wonderful book, and can also be called as 'Rusty-2', followed by 'Rusty, the boy from the hills' (I did not read the first one). Rusty enters teenage in this book, and he loses his father and grandparents, whom he loved the most. He is not fond of his mother as his father and mother were separated very early after Rusty was born. He grew up with his father, but after he passed away, was sent to a cruel guardian. Due to some reasons, he will be sent to a boarding school, from which he tries to make an escape with his friend Daljit. However, he himself returns back to the school with his friend and soon both of them get rusticated. I would not like to tell the reader of this the whole story, but if you want to know what happened next, then read what is written below the image. <div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Not the first review of this book on this blog but this one differs a lot from the first one.<br />This book truely did not have any sedative effect on me cause it kept me awake using its thrill and adventure. In other words the book did not bore me and kept me glued to it till I read the last word. Few of the incidents described by Edgar Rice Burroughs in the novel were so unpleasant that I felt puking right away and that is where the author's real talent lies in. His vivid elaborations of the creatures, atmosphere, people, objects and scenarios of a totally new world which is a result of the writer's imagination and innovation is worth reading.<br />The story is narrated not by the author but by a person named David Innes who with Perry (a professor) gets lost into the world just below the crust in some kind of drilling machine made by the professor. <div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Written by Stephen Hawking. This book comprises of a wonderful collection of Scientific Essays and Interviews with Stephen Hawking. It also has a few autobiographical notes in it, which describe his childhood, his <i>Motor Neuron Disease</i>, and many more things. Although this book is appreciable, I did not understand any more than half of the whole book, as it contained stuff about <i>Black Holes, Galaxies, etc.</i> which was very difficult to understand. Hawking states that Black Holes are not Completely Black, proving it with a research that showed Black Holes emit a radiation. He even stated that as there are Black Holes, which absorb but never release particles; there are also White Holes, which are vise-versa. Reading this book was not enjoyable a lot, because it could not be understood. The Diary of a Young Girl

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">The name itself  familiarises you with the author. I've read both the versions of the world known book by Anne Frank- abridged and unabridged. But surprisingly enough, I found out that both the books gave me entirely viseversa impressions of the teenaged writer. When I read the retold version at the age of 11, I created an image of the young girl in my mind who possessed the qualities such as being childish, playful, cheerful, kind, high-spirited and a light hearted girl "but" her actual self was unveiled to me only when I went through her original writing. She is not at all childish and much more matured in her thoughts as compared to people of her age, very courageous, strong, brave, confident, sensitive, intelligent and surely to be metioned extremely optimistic. If you read the book you'll find that the '2' Annes conjoin in the last day of her diary. Anne reveals all of her self to her dear diary, Kitty and confides in it.<br /> During the extremely tough years of the second world war when Jews were treated with alarming brutality , Anne's family with her diary, and the Van Daan family with an extra person named Dussel, a total of 8 people go into hiding. Few of the horror filled atrocities infected on the Jews at that time peep out through the pages of the diary.<br />Though I felt, too much of Anne's personal life is exposed in the book but one must always keep in mind that these are the words of a young girl only and only to her dearest friend, her diary. She shows the level, a person's optimistic feelings can go and enlightens the readers. Even the last second day of her diary carry the words- "Now I am getting really hopeful......"<br />She wanted to become a journalist but today she's much more than that- she's an inspiration. The Three Musketeers - Retold

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Written by Alexandre Dumas, this is a historic novel that always keeps you attracted to it. I read a retold version of this book which was very small, and did not entertain much. But buying the original book is worth reading. As the name suggests, this book is about three musketeers who work for the king, always showing rivalry towards guards, and popularly known as "The Three Inseparables". Then one day, D' Artagnan, an other person, wanting to be a musketeer challenges to fight them. As the 3 musketeers understand his true potential, they let him join them. The rest of the novel deals with Murders, Action, Suspense, Escapes, Riding on horses, and many other beautifully written texts. The Swiss Family Robinson - Complete and Unabridged

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Written by Johann David Wyss. This is the second review of the same book on this blog. This novel deals with a family getting lost on an uninhabited island, with enough animals required for basic living. It was the same concept of that of <i>Robinson Crusoe</i>, getting lost on an island. The family spend 10 years there, eventually gathering all the local plants in their own garden, and even building their own house and boats. They capture and tame many types of animals and birds. The novel is really good with many adventures. What I felt was that they were killing too many animals, and there was a lot of violence towards them. This family keep waiting for any Britain ship to arrive, in the urge to go back to their own country, but in the same time, have a lot of fear in their hearts not knowing when they would be attacked by Pirates. The final question is : Will they ever be able to go home to meet humans again? Read this book to find out. Diary of a Wimpy Kid - The Ugly Truth

In the last book, Greg parts with his best friend Rowley, and feels very jealous of seeing him with another playmate. The author, Jeff Kinney, after a lot of thinking decides that the character 'Greg' should grow up. He was very happy with maid Isabella, until he discovered that she was very lazy, even lazier than him. I did not even feel to review this book as it contained nothing adventurous, funny, or something else. The fascinating science fiction or adventurous or mystery or drama (or whatever you feel appropriate) book has an unbelievably thrilling and exciting story with lots of unexpected events in it. The book starts off with a strange news that shakes the world (obviously the author's world, I mean imaginary), a steamship holed by a dreadful sea monster, the captain of which speaks of ghostly light. Does'nt that seem to sound like a phantom story? Well, to me, Yes. So, few men including Professor Arronax and his assistant, Terray; Ned, the prince of harpooners; Captain Farragut sailing, the<i> Abraham Lincoln </i>(a ship) set off for the hunt of the demon in the sea, who gave the story it's beginning. Then there is a shocking entrance of the beast and the professor falls into the rough sea due to the heavy strokes of the monster on the ship and drifts away from the water vessel. Alas! he is lost......oh no, the others also appear....what a relief! What comes next is the actual surprise of the story-  the so called monster is a huge submarin with Captain Nemo as the leader in it. The upcoming adventures are stupendous, so experience them yourself.</div>

Later Greg's grandpa reveals the bitter truth to his father, that the dog what accidently stomped by grandpa's car. He made a story of it getting lost so that Greg's father won't feel sad. But as grandpa expected, his dad did not take it as a joke, instead, he brought a new dog from the shop. This book is quite different from the others, as it deals with Greg's life in Summer Holiday. His mother starts to make a 'Summer Photo Album', but ends up putting all false stuff in that. You should read to find out more. Also, it contains an exclusive extract from Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Ugly Truth. His dad thinks he is too big to be 'wimpy' (weak), and now atleast gain some muscles, but all of his and greg's plans fail completely. Greg takes a new year resolution that he will help other people to improve, and so he tries to help everyone a lot, but fails in this as usual. His family's resolutions last only for a very short period. His life is filled with troubles every now and then, and everything he does fails. Great expectations is an awesome book including three parts- The years before the great expectations, Life in London with great expectations and The years after the loss of great expectations and the author's favourite child character, Pip. <br />Pip's family name was Philip Pirrip which he could not spell and so decided to name himself with a simpler name, Pip. Poor Pip was an orphan who also lost  his six siblings at a very young age. As one day Pip was playing in his favourite place, the graveyard, a serious, frightful and overwhelming man bypassed his way. Let me address Pip as 'he' from now. He lived with his sister who was twenty years older than he and her husband, the blacksmith.<br />Then, in the story, came another fearful encounter with a frightful man but not the one I had mentioned earlier. The two convicts fought and were caught by the policemen. I wrote about this event as I feel it plays a very important role in the following story which I won't reveal. There is nothing to particularly highlight in this book, as it only contains adventures of a Middle school kid. I noticed that it was very much different from the first book, and has a more interesting story. Greg Heffley has many secrets which would be 'hazardous' if leaked. But when his brother Rodrick uncovers them, the unthinkable happens. As Greg thought, the secret did not spoil his friendship, because it was completely retold as it spread, but made him a 'Hero'. Maybe, readers including me are/were a little upsetted by the complicated and old language of the book but surely it does it's work secretly that is to improve your language or literature. The Cover Page had a name "David Copperfield", which was also boring. But one day, I decided to read it, and after reading, I realized what a wonderful novel it was. His aunt has left his mother when he was born, never to meet again as a boy was born. This young boy, David Copperfield loses his father before he was born, and later loses his mother. A person who re-marries her mother , treats him mercilessly. He is then sent to a factory to work, and when he couldn't work any more there, he escapes, writing a letter to Pegotty (who was his housekeeper) to send him some money to go to his aunt. He receives his money, but gets robbed very soon. He then goes to his aunt, walking all the way to Dover. She then adopts him, renaming him 'trot'. He starts out to become a lawyer, after 17, but couldn't continue as his aunt has run out of money.<br />I would not like to reveal the whole story here, so you read to find out what happens next!</div>

He and his best friend Rowley make a comic together but get parted after a while. Rowley then takes all the credit overthrowing his friend. Also I felt that the language and story grew more matured and enchanting as Helen grew up ( in the book). A person reading the book is surely to get deeply moved when he/she comes to know how the unforgettable lady overcame her disabilities, her affection towards all the people who loved her and gifted to her the feeling of warmth and sympathy, Miss Anne Sullivan being the foremost (her devoted teacher).<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>I was amazed to read how focussed the remarkable 20th century woman was towards achieving her goal  to be able to talk, inspite of her being blind and deaf, and to do all other things that a normal human could do. She also graduated herself. Her positivity impressed me.<br />The deeply moving memoir  portrays one of the best persons the world has ever seen and maybe will ever see.<br /><br />                                             </div>

<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">Written by Daniel Defoe, Retold and Illustrated by Aakriti Features, I felt that this retold version was too short, for it only had 200 pages, and 100 of them completely illustrated. However, a lot of adventures were covered in these little number of pages. The story is about Robinson Crusoe, who always wanted to go into the sea, but was stopped by his parents. It so happened that when he was 18 years, he ignored his parents and went out to the sea, and became a puppet in Pirates hands. He escapes from the pirates somehow but lived happily only for a short period of time. He then goes to sea again, but gets lost in a deserted island as the only survivor of the Shipwreck. He lives many years writing his diary, rearing goats and growing crops. After 20 years, he discovers cannibals on the island. Many adventures go on until he scares away the cannibals out of the place. He returns to his home in England on 19th December 1686, after 35 years.
