It is the first book in the series. But as in the name, this is no diary, but a journal, as stated by Greg Heffley (Wimpy Kid). You might be thinking then why was the book named so. When Greg asks his mother to get him something that doesn't say 'Diary' on it, his mother does it! Greg is always very weak, and the name 'Wimpy Kid' perfectly suits him. There was nothing that I particularly liked in this book, as this was quite normal with ordinary adventures. I also wonder how this book became an International Best seller.
Coming to the story, this book was very humorous, filled with a lot of funny matter. Greg sits on an bench in his new school, not knowing that his teacher would make it permanent. In his school's basketball court, resides a piece of rotting cheese which all fear to go near. He and his best friend Rowley make a comic together but get parted after a while. Rowley then takes all the credit overthrowing his friend. It is wonderfully written and illustrated by Jeff Kinney.
