This is a very touching book by Charles Dickens which can tackle one's emotions and also make few, drip tears. A movie was taken from the heart rendering book which was also very well directed. Oliver, the main character in the book is portrayed as a very innocent boy who has the slightest knowledge of his bad company and surroundings.
Oliver is an orphan boy who is badly treated in his orphanage from where he is sent to ,once again, a cruel and wicked family where he has to work tirelessly all day long to earn a day's meal. Unable to bear such brutality, the young orphan escapes to the city where he is discovered by a group of notorious thieves. Though these burglars treat Oliver with lots of affection, they teach him to rob rich gentlemen in the process of which he is caught and beaten up.
The wealthy complainant seems to pity on the boy and takes him home. But it seems that Oliver is glued to bad fate as the robbers find him and try to make him blurt out if he had betrayed them and spoken out all about their gang to the police. After that the story ends with a lovely ending which I won't write. I would rather like to recommend the unabridged version as it gives you a taste of old and good literature. Read the book to enjoy a wonderful storyline. The novel's depth will surely please you.
